Insight look into The BlueScope Innovation Centre, the world’s most innovative steel research centre
Kuala Lumpur, XX July 2015 – NS BlueScope Malaysia (BlueScope) the world’s leading manufacturer of steel recently awarded 25 special guests an all-expense paid 5-day tour to BlueScope Steel Australia. The guests comprised of 21 BlueScope Malaysia’s BOND Club long-term customers, three representatives from Pertubuhan Arkitek Malaysia (PAM) and a representative from Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR) Malaysia.
The exclusive tour aimed at providing guests an inside look and first-hand understanding of the detailed work that goes on behind new product developments at BlueScope’s Innovation Centre; a key test site for the leading international supplier of steel products and solutions. The BlueScope Innovation Centre the world’s one of a kind unique facility for steel industry also aims at developing revolutionary new ways of making coated steel which is tried and tested to perform in trade environment for all its next generation metallic coating products like ZINCALUME® steel with Activate™ Technology.
Guests were exposed to an exclusive preview to the company’s research and development centre with its key focus on higher value, branded products for the building and construction industry. The BlueScope Innovation Centre allows the company to give it the competitive edge to meet emerging challenges and ensure that the company always stays on the path of innovation allowing customers, with world-class research facilities to develop and deliver high quality steel products that add value to the customer‘s business.

The special tour by BlueScope is in line with the company’s year-long plan to provide educational tours, seminars and various events to further educate and elevate the quality of Malaysian architects and professionals in the construction and building industry for bigger challenges.
Since last year, NS BlueScope Malaysia has been holding industry talks with JKR such as the Higher Education Department and Architecture Department Kuala Lumpur. In addition to this, the innovative steel company also held seminars specifically for architects in six different states, awarding participants the needed Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points certified by Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (LAM) and PUJA (Brunei) Council in Kuching, Miri, Brunei, Kota Kinabalu, Penang and Kuala Lumpur.
The five-day tour which saw guests taken to visitations to structures which currently utilizes BlueScope’s products; Sydney’s Netball Central, Olympic Park Train Station and Pier One at Sydney Harbour Hotel, a tour of the production of coated steel with Activate™ Technology with a walkthrough by the operations team on the ZINCALUME® steel and COLORBOND® steel’s manufacturing process.
NS BlueScope is set to hold more educational talks with JKR, Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), quantity surveyors and CPD workshops for architects towards the final 6 months of 2015.
